Geography music: Irish music

Irish music has spread globally becasue irish dancers must dance to traditional irish music . traditional irish instruments include
the fiddle- The fiddling tradition of Sligo is perhaps most recognizable to outsiders, due to the popularity of American-based performers like Lad O'Beirne and Paddy Killoran. These fiddlers did much to popularise Irish music in the States in the 1920s and 1930s.
the flute and tin whistle- Irish schoolchildren are generally taught the rudiments of playing on the tin whistle, just as school children in many other countries are taught the soprano recorder. At one time the whistle was thought of by many traditional musicians as merely a sort of "beginner's flute," but that attitude has changed as now its a main irish traditional instrument.
the accordian- The accordion plays a major part in modern Irish music. The accordion spread to Ireland late in the 19th century. In its ten-key form (melodeon), it is claimed that it was popular across the island. It was recorded in the U.S. by John Kimmel, The Flanagan Brothers, Eddie Herborn and Peter Conlon.
These are the main instuments played in irish dancing and they have spread around the world to promote irish culture and irish dance.

geograghy project: what countries did irish dancing spread to?

Aside from public dance performances, there are also stepdance competitions in Ireland, the United Kingdom, and North America. Most competitive stepdances are solo dances, though many stepdancers also perform and compete using traditional set and céilí dances. When performed as a solo dance, it is generally characterized by a stiff upper body and the quick and precise movements of the feet.
in america irish dancing is more simple and the standards would be very differant.

irish dancing spread to america when the irish went to america in the famine times. it spread because theres was so many people using the irish launguage and dancing as a past times . nowadays they teach irish dancing in america and there is many irish pubs because people beleive that they have irish descent for example barrack obama beleived that he has relations in moneygal co. offaly.

irish dancing spread to the united kingdom in the plantations when some loyal irish decided to become protestant and move to england and scotland. the scottish launguage and songs are very similier to the irish launguage and songs so the scottish have a liking for the irish culture. i know that the scottish are very strict at irish dancing because at a recent worlds competition i was at many young scottish people won competitions.
the irsh culture and dance has spread all over the world evan in places such as israel and new zealand. we are a small country but our culture has spread globally.

geography project: where/how did irish dancing originate from,

the reason why i have chosen to write my series of blog posts on irish dancing is because i am an irish dancer and have a lot of interest towards it.

Roundelays, reels, jigs and rince fada start being mentioned in English and Anglo Irish literature in the 16th, 17th centuries. Writers noted that the Irish were very keen on dancing. In 1850+ travelling dancing masters became popular and refined the dance developing the stepwork and solos and laying the foundation of Irish dance as we see it today.
There are several theories about the rigid upper body and straight arms. The one I favour is that it was the influence of the Catholic church trying to prevent contact between the sexes, and introducing an air of restraint. But it was probably the dancing masters trying to distance their dance from unruly country dances.
in human geography many people have been employed by irish dacing teachers as in some parts of the world it is very popular and strict so people dance every night of the week.
